Our Leaders:
Elder Patrick & Missionary Kadian Smith
Elder Patrick Smith, a native of Jamaica, immigrated and arrived ahead of his family in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in June 2012. He joined Bethel United Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Orrain G. Simpson. He continued to serve in ministry until his family joined him in 2015. They took up membership at Bethel United Church of Jesus Christ in Edmonton, Alberta after migrating from Jamaica in 2015. For eight years, the Smiths became staples in the Bethel family and have served in various capacities.
Elder Patrick served as Youth Assistant President, in the Men’s Ministry, and was a member of the Convocation Planning Committee and the head of the Hospitality Ministry in the church, as he is a trained Professional Executive Chef.
Upon arrival in Canada, the transition did not stop Missionary Kadian from devoting her time to the work of God alongside her husband, hence she quickly found herself investing in the Youth and Sunday School Departments.
Missionary Kadian, who is a trained teacher, utilizes the skills garnered on the job to positively influence the children and the youth to explore their God-given potential.
In the summer of 2023, the Smiths, after much time in prayer, answered the call of God to serve as the new pastoral leaders for the work in Montreal, Quebec. In a highly secular province, the need for a powerful, anointed and gifted leader is critical. Patrick’s principal spiritual gift as an evangelist has greatly contributed to the growth of the church; coupled with Kadian’s gift in teaching and nurturing souls, the church is bound to see expansion.
Elder Patrick and Evangelist Kadian Smith were married on the afternoon of Saturday, July 3rd, 2004. The couple from the onset of their marriage has been deeply committed to a high degree of spiritual growth and progress in ministry. Their union has produced three children, the Triple-A – Amor (15), Aiden (8) and Asher (2).
